Why see Capri by boat

The island of Capri is surrounded by the waters of the Gulf of Naples. Across from its karstic coastline, the iconic Sorrento peninsula looks down from a majestic height. The morphological structure of Capri is articulated and irregular, as it includes some fairly high mountains as well as a number of inland plateaus: the most famous being Anacapri.

Over the years, the island’s karstic origin has lead to the formation of many cliffs, coves, inlets and natural caves. These caves were besieged by the Romans during the great imperial period, to build royal palaces and villas, many of which are still visible today, emerging from the typically Mediterranean undergrowth of Capri.

Among the symbols that highlight the natural scenery of Capri are the Faraglioni, the iconic islets that dot the coast of Capri, also known for being featured in adverts, (Dolce & Gabbana, just to name one). The Blue Grotto follows with the same popularity: a cave partially flooded by the sea, which owes its name to the magical colour of the water here when it is lit up by the light filtering in from the outside.
